How to install Guten Premium

Installing Guten Premium is as simple as deleting the old free theme and then installing the Premium zip file at Appearance -> Themes -> Add New -> Upload Theme.

The reason for deleting the free version first is because the free version and the premium version both have the same name… This is so that you will not lose any settings when you upgrade as WordPress will remember the theme settings.

After you purchase Guten Premium, you will receive an email with your download link where you will download a .zip file of the premium theme.

Thats it!
Otherwise if you’re still unsure of the process then keep reading.

You can upgrade by following either option 1) OR option 2).

Option 1:

Delete the free theme and then install the premium zip file at Appearance -> Themes -> Add New -> Upload Theme.

As you probably still have the free theme activated under Appearance -> Themes, you will need to activate any other theme before you can see the option/button to delete a theme. Don’t be nervous, WordPress will have these settings saved in the database because the free and premium theme have the same name, so you won’t lose your free theme settings.

Then install the zip file you downloaded from the email you received after purchasing Guten Premium. Or login to your account to download the theme again.

Option 2:

Simply install the Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades plugin and then install the premium zip file at Appearance -> Themes -> Add New -> Upload Theme.

No need to delete the free version of the theme then. There is no configuration or settings for this plugin.

Once you’ve successfully upgraded to premium you can then delete the Easy Upgrades plugin.

For safety, the Easy Upgrades plugin creates a backup of your old theme which will be saved to your media library.

Receiving an error when trying to upgrade?

If you do not install the Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades Plugin, or you do not delete the old free theme, you will receive the following error saying that the Theme Folder Already Exists.

Simply delete the free theme, or install the Easy Upgrades plugin and then try again.

Or contact us if you’re still not able to work it out.
